Core Visual Art is a new artist collective of former Affiliates Artists and Artists-in-Residenceof McColl Center for Visual Art. It has long been a dream of Suzanne Fetscher, Directorof the Center, to sponsor an off-site gallery. While the Center enjoys a national reputationas an incubator for visual art, it also serves as a hub for contemporary art at home inCharlotte, NC.

The mission of the new collective is to provide a highly visible and credible venue forthe exhibition and sale of work by member artists while cultivating a wider audience forcontemporary art in Charlotte, NC. In the spring of 2010, the McColl Center invited someof its past and present affiliates to become the founding Board for the planned gallery. These are the artists at the core of Core Visual Art:

  • Raed Al-Rawi
  • Daniel Allegrucci
  • Crista Cammaroto
  • Alex Clark
  • Diane Hughes
  • Ashley Lathe
  • Laura McCarthy
  • Felicia van Bork

The artwork of this central group is diverse, yet shares certain qualities: a strong graphicsensibility, emotional accessibility and metaphoric heft. Future solo and group exhibitionsfor the artist cooperative. will showcase these traits at venues throughout Charlotte.
